I had a post up last month, but something went wrong. So, I am trying it again. In December of 2023, I had my first children’s book published. The name of my book is Woodie the Oak Tree and The Big Red Barn: Learning That He’s Not Alone. It’s about a talking tree who was all alone and then made friends with the farm animals living in the big red barn. There is cute conversation between the tree and the animals. In all of my writing I want there to always be some kind of encouragement. I believe this follows right in step with that goal.
I’ve writing for a very long time. I have loads of manuscripts either in binders, folders, on my laptop – well let’s just be honest, they are everywhere! I finally decided to put one of my babies (my writing) out there to be seen by the world. It was terrifying. I loved the story. I thought it was really cute – but I was still afraid. I’m please to say that so far the reactions have been satisfying.
The whole process was a little daunting along the way, only because it was a little difficult to express to an editor what I saw inside of my mind. So, there was lots of back and fourth, but it finally came together. However, let me say I do now see that I could have suggested things to be a bit different. It is always said, hindsight is 20/20. I will learn from this first book and do better going forward.
Needless to say, I am now super excited to get my next book out there to be see and read. I’m not sure if it will be a children’s book or a devotional, or maybe even a book of poetry. You will just have to stay tuned to see which one cries out loudest to be next.
