The Character I Would Be…

Daily writing prompt
If you could be a character from a book or film, who would you be? Why?

There is just something special about this little orphan girl that draws me into her web. The little girl is beyond imaginative. She sees the best in the most horrid of circumstances. Her stubborn streak is very much like my own. I’m speaking of “Anne of Green Gables.” She is a girl with a plan, and a heart of gold.

Ann with an e, is determined. She doesn’t allow her past to keep her tied down in depression, but uses it as a catapult to soar to new heights. Her love for people is challenging – makes you look at yourself and question – could I care that much? Anne looks out for the underdog or misfit and makes them her friends.

Mostly, Anne with an e, loves to write. The words pour out of her like a stream of water giving life to whomever reads them. At first, she thought that dreamy love stories was her key to success. However, a dear friend explained to her to write what she knows.

This is something I strive for every time I put pen to paper. It is so easy to get caught up in trying to mimic someone else’s style, but I have to reel myself back and just be me. I want to utilize all of Anne’s eclectic mannerisms – of course filtered through me to be the best version of me that I can be – The key theme I draw from Anne is that I must always remember – “Write What I Know!!!”
