Laughter – Good Like Medicine!

Daily writing prompt
What makes you laugh?

Laughter is contagious! Laughter is boisterous! Laughter lightens the load I carry. There is absolutely nothing like a genuine, heart felt outburst of laughter. It truly is like medicine. I wish we could bottle and give it to every living soul to use. Wouldn’t that make life just a little sweeter?

The answer to my prompt today is my boys. I have four boys. They bring me such joy. I love them unconditionally. When two more of them are together, it creates this comical atmosphere that keeps me in stitches. They play off each others words. They will take one subject a stretch it beyond reality and it is hilarious. When they were younger and we were going on family vacations – most kids would complain the entire time using the phrase “are we there yet.” They did that occasionally, but most of the time they were entertaining their father and I. They would be singing “Disney” songs for hours. They pretended to be “Julia Child’s” doing her famous “first, you take the bird” rendition. It was so funny – I nearly wet myself from laughing so hard. That only fueled their desire to make me laugh more. I’m confused where this comes from, because I’m not a funny person – well not on purpose. They laugh at me for other reasons, but that too is another book I’m working on.

Laughter needs to become more important in our lives. We are so overwhelmed with work, living, relationships, and just trying to make it through the day – we forget to laugh. When was the last time you actually laughed? Not just a giggle at something you read on your phone, but a heart felt – deep laughter that brightened your day for at least a few moments. I encourage to laugh! After all, it is good like a medicine!
