What makes you most anxious?
I am not a worrier. Most things I take in stride. God has always taken care of me. So, I find it hard to let things get to me. However, there is one thing that does plague my mind. My husband and I are getting older. Retirement has been talked about. While the sound of that brings me joy; it also causes me to be anxious. The reason is will there be enough money to take care of us? What if we can’t work till we die – if our health deteriorates too much. Will Social Security still exist? So many questions. It causes me to stress.
And then that still small voice inside of me whispers oh so softly, “LaDonna, I have always taken care of you. I have interceded for you in ways you can’t imagine. Why should you worry about this?” I inhale and exhale – the peace returns. The scripture that comes to mind is “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 6-7, NKJV).
There are so many things in this life that steals our peace, our joy, and our faith. We must be vigilant to protect our hearts and minds. How can we live a life full of joy if we allow our peace to be stolen. You must protect!
