Outside of my office, I hear the trickle of water coming from the fountain. I love the sound of water. It’s as soothing as a lullaby. It gives me the sense of calmness and delight. In the world in which we live today, we certainly need a solace. We need that one thing that will take us away from the stress and troubles for just a moment in time. What is your escape?
One of my favorite things to do to bring about that serenity is to get in the car and drive to Lake Michigan and listen to the lapping water. The water is so huge and expansive, as far as the eye can see. The waves can be either soft and gentle or loud and boisterous, yet very mesmerizing. The same cleansing effect happens whether it is at the ocean, by a rippling stream, and yes even a water fountain. Rain also is peaceful. I just love water and how it affects me. This is my go to, to get momentary relief.
