Fall Is In The Air

I just love it when the weather turns cold, dreary, and gloomy. It is just comforting in a strange sort of way. I can have my candles burning and decorative lights glowing. All of this makes my house feel welcoming and homey. I really love it. It also makes me want to start baking delicious goodies. Hot baked bread, cinnamon rolls, and pumpkin pie all fill the air with love. It is such an escape form the hustle and heat of the summer. Calm, relaxing days are only days away.

However, fall also makes me think of something else that may not be very comfortable or relaxing. Fall brings to mind, “death”. I understand that may be a bit morbid, but that is actually what is happening. The flowers, trees, and grass prepare for their own death. Yet, they don’t do it in a “woe is me” fashion. They give their all. Brilliant colors of red, yellow, and orange blaze in the trees. The flower give their finally ovation. The grass continues to try to hold on with all its might. Nature provides a lesson we need to pay attention to and learn. Even though it knows its days are numbered, it continues to live to the fullest. Gracing us with their beautiful array of glory.

We, on the other hand, do not usually know the number of our days. So it’s hard to know when our end will come. The fact is, take a lesson from nature. Live life to its fullest. Enjoy each and every day as if it were the last one you are given. Enjoy the big and small things. Try new things. Dress to feel good. Sure it’s easy just to put on sweats and a t-shirt, but do you feel your best? Probably not! Our time is precious. It is ever fleeting.

Now get up! Put on a nice sweater! Get a hot cup of coffee! Turn on some music! Enjoy the gloomy day – I know I will!
