Encouragement – Day #7

1 Timothy 6:6-7 New International Version (NIV)

But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.

Contentment – what does that mean? Does it suggest that you have no control over situations? Does being content mean that life is perfect? The dictionary’s definition is (a state of happiness and satisfaction). If you look at the overview of the world having contentment, it is having all you want, the way you want it, and when you want it. Then and only then can one be content.

However, I beg to differ. There are always many different outside influences that affect how things happen. There is absolutely no “one” way to make situations end up perfect. We must look first to the realization that God once again is still in control. He knows what is best for us. He also knows when we need to be molded, knocking off rough edges or prickly personality traits. This is when situations arise that can cause us pain or troubling times. This bad things are really for our good.

Being content is not having everything, but being happy with what we already have. We may work hard, plan, and strive for the next step on the ladder of success, but if we can’t be thankful – we will never be content. During these times we are now living through, I’m hearing so much negativity about how we are being forced to say at home. Do you possibly think this is to destroy our living. Of course not. It is a protective request to help us and other be safe.

Folks, please be content with being with your families. Enjoy the rest and relaxation. Use the time wisely to do things that you usually don’t have time to do. Soon this will all be over and the work a day life will resume. We will complain that we never have time to do anything. Be content with our present situation – knowing our God is in control.

Prayer:

Father God, please help us to be content with our present situation. Help us to take one day at a time and enjoy it to its fullest, knowing it will bring us sweet contentment. Thank you for a time of repose.

Thoughtfulness Action:

Take a moment to look how busy your life is when life is actually normal. Then look at the situation you are in now. If you must, make a list of things you wish to accomplish during this time. Determine to be thankful daily for what is in your hand and what blessings you enjoy.
