Encouragement  – Day #2

Philippians 4:13 New International Version (NIV)

13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Today, I was brought to tears by a group of people – young and old that had mental and physical challenges. They performed on Britain’s Got Talent. They did a song in sign language from The Greatest Showman (This Is Me). They sang with all their might. Their challenges didn’t hold them back. They weren’t on stage begging for a break or free handouts. They were there to share their joy. That joy was transported from my phone to my heart. I couldn’t help but be emotional.

It got me to thinking about how I view challenges in my life. Do I meet them with the same enthusiasm? I’m afraid not. Unfortunately, it led me to consider that we all tend to feel sorry for ourselves when things don’t go our way. We get upset. We blame others for our so-called misfortune. We end up complaining and saying, “Why Me?” When if truth be told, many of our problems are blown way out of proportion.

I feel compelled to suggest that we take a step back and realize that our challenges are only as big as we allow them to be. We are all made of strong stock. God has each step prepared for us. Trials make us stronger. So during these troublesome times, don’t despair. Stand up bravely and show the joy that comes from inside of you. We can be there for others, regardless of our situations.

Prayer:

Father God, Help me to realize that you are in control. No matter what comes my way – I can get through it with your strength. Help people see the joy I carry within, instead of the troubles I let plague my mind.

Thoughtfulness Action:

Take time to write down 10 of your blessings, the things that you enjoy that you didn’t provide for yourself
