What’s Your Barn Say!

My husband and I took a drive out in the country today. We stayed true to the social distancing enacted by our government, but we needed some wide open spaces to breath. It was lovely. The grass was a deep green and the trees budding. The wind was strong and the weeping willows were flying like flags swaying in the breeze. Oh, and the farm land. It just soothes my soul and gives me that feeling of home, safety, and right down goodness.

However, the thing that captured my attention was the barns. Yes, I said barns. They stand out. They exude I am useful. I have a purpose. I matter. Each one had a similar shape, but different colors. To me the colors displayed their attitude. The gray barns looked old and tired. They had given their lives and was ready to be done. The white barns looked as if they were trying to be shabby chic – a second chance to be useful. However, the red barns were bright and confident. They said, “I am new and worthy to catch your attention.”

Isn’t it strange how the outside of anything, living or inanimate, is judged by their covers. This time of self-isolation and pandemic begs for us to take time to get to know friends and family in a deeper way. We are afforded so many devises that allow even this in this separation to spend more time with one another. My family has made a family texting site. We share pictures of food, activities, and talking to the grandchildren. It has been a blessed thing. I know this time is difficult and frustrating for some, but I am counting my many blessings. I am truly blessed. Seek peace!
