Grandchildren are such a delight…

blue, blue, blue and finally pink!

Cycle of life in its reality

Days turn to weeks and weeks to months

With the last contraction pink arrives!

Girls have the power to do great things

Fear of the unknown grips the heart-

Doctors and nurses swarm to attend…

Bright red hair, green eyes yet, the chromosomes don’t add up!

Disease attack with no warning.

Surgeries and complications, white knuckles, and tear stained cheeks

Miracles still happen –

Now she grows stronger every day –

Determination is at the heart of progress.

She is rolling about chattering Da, Da, Da –

Slobbery kisses, smiles as glorious as the sun!

My heart captured by the one whose chromosomes don’t add up

But who is counting any way – for my heart is complete with the color pink!
