Alarm blasting – startled awakening
Like life smacking you in the face
Fried eggs with double yokes
Like surprises that catch you unaware
Yellow splattering the plate
Like the bright sunshine all over my face
Smell of toast – crunchy and loud
Like voices invading your space
Tart, pulp less orange juice – tingles the tongue
Like words of others blistering your ears
Sizzling bacon – the aroma fills the air
Like meeting deadlines and filling quotas
Thoughts of Home and Hearth – your heart full of joy
Like warmth of a hug and kiss of a love
Cups of joe – a tad of sugar to cut the bitter
Like a sweet gesture from a friend
And cream enough to lighten the color
Like plans, dreams, and hope that all is fine
Ready the day ahead – a clean slate – plenty to do
Like a brand-new day!
